The third-generation Celsior introduced a new body design with a host of new interior and technological features and was equipped with a new 4.3-liter 3UZ-FE engine generating 216 kW (290 hp) and 434 N·m (320 ft·lbf) of torque. The standard suspension had been completely redesigned, with a double-wishbone setup at all four wheels; a Euro-tuned suspension was offered for the first time.
