Introduced in 1973, the YZR500 was a top contender in Motorcycle Grand Prix events all over the world for nearly three decades. It was just as popular off the motorcycle circuit, too, appearing in anime and manga series like BariBari Legend. Combined, the YZR500 and BariBari Legend helped bring motorcycle street racing out of a small, dedicated counterculture into mainstream acceptance.
